Most days this statement would be true any day after September 23, but today is certainly not one of them. The projected high today is 77 degrees! Hey, I'm not complaining (I do have an active 2 year old who loves playing outside) but where is the fall weather that we had just 4 days ago!
Even though we don't have he cool crisp feeling of Fall in the air that hasnt stopped us from doing all the fun things that Fall brings with it! Last weekend we went with our Sunday School class to Uncle Shucks Corn Maze.
On Tuesday Garrett had his preschool costume parade. I loved this!!! I must say his costume is a funny story... I asked Garrett weeks ago what he wanted to be for Halloween and he said a fireman, so I hopped online and ordered him a firefighter outfit. Well, come Monday afternoon it still had not arrived and like any good Mother - I panicked and went out trying to find him something to wear for the costume parade the next day. Isnt he the cutest little pirate!!! Arrgghh!! We when arrived back on after his parade on Tuesday guess what was at our front door? yep, you guessed it!
Garrett also helped me make Halloween cupcakes for his class. He is always so interested in what I am cooking, so I tried to make it really fun for him.
Who doesn't love a sweet strawberry??? Especially when it is about 16 pounds of pure grins! Sadie dressed up for our Trunk or Treat as a strawberry and we called her our strawberry shortcake!
Happy Fall Y'all!!!!

Back in Action!!
Now that the first few months of having a newborn have passed I'm finding that my days are not as choatic; therefore, leaving me with "a little" more time to blog and update pictures. Yay!!
This week was a busy one, well - are'nt they all with a toddler and newborn? But I guess this week had several big events that an average week normally wouldnt. On Tuesday I celebrated my 29th birthday. The day was great... I had a MOPS meeting where I enjoyed hearing "Happy Birthday" all morning! After I picked Garrett up from school, He was so excited about my birthday (birthday to a 2 year old means - birthday cake) that we decided to go ahead and eat my cake for lunch! It's those memories that I love making with my kids - I hope Garrett grows up to remember the times where Mommy broke the "rules" for special occasions.

At Last... A New Blog!!!
Whew! The past 3 months have been wonderfully crazy! I cannot believe that it has taken 3 months to write a new post... Actually, yes I can believe it. We have had several great adventures going on that has keep us very busy.
At the end of August we accompanied Josh on a business trip to Orlando where Garrett found out about the world of Mickey Mouse. No, we did not take him to Disney -- but since daddy was onsite at Disney we got up close and personal with all things Mickey Mouse. It was a wonderful trip because we also got to spend some time with JR and Leslie and the kids. I'm so happy that it worked out for Leslie and I to get together most days during the week and on the weekend let's just say that we spent ALL of our time with them!
After our trip to Orlando we spent the week at our favorite beach, Fort Walton Beach on Okaloosa Island in Florida. It was neat see the difference between Garrett last year as a 15 month old "baby" and this year as an adventurous 2 1/2 year old. He loved it, and he especially loved that his best friend Jackson was there too! These kids made the whole beach trip something to remember even for the adults.
I know that you all are wondering about Miss Sadie... I havent even mentioned her so far. Dont worry... I've got LOTS to say about our sweet little girl! She just turned 4 months and we call her our baby doll. Josh and I both agree that having a girl just feels different. She brings out the softest side in both of us. She just had her 4 month well check and she weighed 15 lbs 11oz - and 26 inches long! Yep big girl! 85th Percentile for height and weight! She seems to be laid back and has somewhat of a serious personality. You really have to work to make her laugh. She is different that Garrett in so many ways...
Take a look through our pictures since at least we were better at keeping that updated! Enjoy!

Our New Life
Sadie is now 6 weeks old, and we are a fully functioning family of four! Welcome to our new life!
I love that Sadie has so much in common with her big brother, yet she is so very different. I now realize that there are differences between boys and girls AT BIRTH! . At her 3 week check-up she weighed 8lbs 8oz and was 21 inches long. 95th percentile for length and 50th percentile for weight. At her 6 week check-up today she was 10lbs 6oz and was 22 1/2 inches long. I am amazed at how fast she is growing!
Garrett started Sonshine camp 3 weeks ago at church and he is loving it. His vocabulary is amazing these days... Sometimes he says things and Josh and I look at each other and say, "Did you know he knew that?" He is very inquisitive and these days he is asking what everything is! While it is good for learning it can be exhausting for mommy and daddy. He will say What is this? It's a ... Then he replies, What the ... doing? You get the picture. He also had swimming lessons a few weeks back to get him ready for the pool this summer.
I wanted to attach a picture of each one of them when they were first born. They were both 24 hours old in the pictures... You can see similarities, but we think that they definitely look different? We know who Garrett looks like... Any thoughts on who Sadie looks like?

Sadie Ella Rector

7 lbs 3 ounces
19 inches long
She is named after 2 of her grandmothers - The late Sadie Rowell Lucas and Sadie Sylvia Rector. Both of these ladies were wonderful women and they played a special role in each of our lives growing up. I can only imagine what they would think about their great granddaughter.
Our Miss Sadie is bringing so much joy into our new family of four. Please check our blog and picture gallery to see how both Garrett and Sadie are growing!

Monkeys & Trains
What a day! We started off at the Emory Yerkes Primate Research open house. We got to see monkeys monkeys and more monkeys. The highlight of the morning was definitely the Chimpanzees. These guys were WOUND UP! Needless to say they don't get to see "people" other than the researchers very often and they LOVE kids. They show this "love" but abruptly flinging handfulls of dirt at the kids...Garrett laughed it off the first time but was ready to scrap after the second dose of dirt in the face ;-) Garrett loves monkeys (especially Curious George...got to get me a yellow hat), but the one thing he likes more than monkeys is CHOO CHOO's!
Off we go to "Caboose days" at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth. What a neat place. We toured antique trains and got tattoos (of the temporary variety). The highlight if the day was actually riding on a REAL Choo Choo...He had a BLAST!

Garrett Turns 2 Today!
We celebrated Garrett's 2nd birthday at Gymboree. He had a great time playing with friends, eating cake, and opening presents. As always, Josh and I enjoyed watching him hit another milestone. As I've said before... there is nothing more enjoyable than watching someone experience life from birth! I always say that Garrett and I have a special bond - after all he is the one who gave me the title, Mom!
Happy Birthday Garrett!

Garrett meets a MONSTER!!!
This was Garrett's very first face to face encounter with a "Monster" from the deep ;-) Needless to say, this fish wasn't much further along in years than the boy himself but we had fun!

Taste Of Collins Hill
Friday night we attended the annual Taste of Collins Hill. The Collins Hill high school is right around the corner from our house, and the Band hosts "Taste of Collins Hill" as a fundraiser. A collection of approximately twenty different restaurants/food providers were there to serve their trademark special recipe or southern fried secret formula or maybe just a piece of their sinfully famous dessert. This event provided a unique opportunity to introduce, or simply reacquaint, local citizens to everything our little corner of the world has to offer. It was sooo good!
